BBE InConversation with Erin Flanagan and Joshua Dolezal

Join us Tuesday, August 23 at 7 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. Pacific) for a reading and conversation with Erin Flanagan and Joshua Doležal . Erin will be reading from her most recent novel Blackout and Joshua will be reading from new nonfiction. Together they will examine the art and craft of writing and the writing profession. We welcome questions from the audience!

Erin Flanagan's latest novel Blackout (Thomas & Mercer) was an Amazon First Reads selection for June 2022. She is the author of the novel Deer Season (University of Nebraska Press), winner of the 2022 Edgar for Best First Novel by an American Author, as well as two short story collections with UNP. Erin is an English professor at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and a regular book reviewer for Publishers Weekly.

Joshua Doležal is the author of a memoir, Down from the Mountaintop: From Belief to Belonging, which was shortlisted for the William Saroyan International Prize. His work has appeared in more than twenty magazines, including Kenyon Review, Hudson Review, and Fourth Genre. He also produces The Recovering Academic, a Substack newsletter.
